"Bollywood’s Legendary Producer/Director Yash CHOPRA Honored with Asian Filmmaker of the Year by the 14th Pusan International Film Festival

The 14th Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) has selected the “Bollywood Emperor” Yash CHOPRA for the “Asian Filmmaker of the Year” award. Since the 8th PIFF in 2003, this award has been presented to Asian filmmakers with outstanding activities in improving and developing the Asian film industry and culture. This year’s Asian Filmmaker of the Year award and 2009 Asian Cinema Night party will be jointly held by the Pusan International Film Festival and L'Oréal Paris.

As the most influential producer and director in India over decades, CHOPRA has made remarkable contributions to establish Bollywood cinema on the global stage. He is also a founder of Yash Raj Films, India’s largest and leading film production company (established in 1970) that has been a hotbed of developing new talent. His efforts in raising the international profile of Indian movies through joint investments and co-productions with Hollywood have been highly acknowledged. " (Quote)
